Route Art Generator
Upload a GPX or FIT file from any watch and turn your route into artwork worth sharing. Choose a background, style the line, add your distance and pace, then download a square or story-sized PNG.
Drop your GPX or FIT file here
Exported from Garmin, Strava, Coros, Polar or any watch. Up to 20 MB.
Your file never leaves your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How the Route Art Generator works
Export a run from Garmin, Strava, Coros, Polar or any watch that writes GPX or FIT, then drop the file in. The route is read entirely inside your browser, so the file is never uploaded anywhere. Pick a background: a solid colour, one of ten gradients, your own photo, or a real street map drawn from OpenStreetMap tiles. Style the line thickness and colour, choose which stats appear alongside it, then position your text anywhere on a nine-point grid. Download a 1080 x 1080 square for a feed post, or a 1080 x 1920 frame for a story.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I get a GPX or FIT file?
Most watches and apps export one. In Strava, open an activity, choose Export GPX from the three-dot menu. Garmin Connect exports both GPX and the original FIT file. Coros, Polar, Suunto and Apple Health all export GPX too.
Is my GPS file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and drawn entirely in your browser. It never reaches a server, and nothing is stored. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works, apart from the map background, which needs to fetch map tiles.
What is the difference between GPX and FIT?
GPX is a plain XML format that almost everything can read. FIT is Garmin's compact binary format and usually carries more detail. This tool reads both and only needs latitude, longitude, elevation and timestamps.
Why does my treadmill run not work?
Route art needs GPS coordinates. An indoor run recorded on a treadmill has no positions to draw, so there is no route to render. Use an outdoor run, ride or hike.
What image sizes can I download?
A 1080 x 1080 square, which suits a feed post, or a 1080 x 1920 vertical frame, which fills a story or a Reel. Both download as a PNG, ready to post.
Is it free?
Completely free, with unlimited downloads and no account. Every background, every font and every export size is included.
